March for Life UK began its event at Westminster’s Emmanuel Centre before marching towards Parliament Square. The organisation describes the event as a family-friendly gathering aimed at opposing abortion and promoting its belief in the value of human life from conception. More than 10,000 people participated, according to March for Life organisers. Thousands of activists marched from the Emmanuel Centre to Parliament Square. In his first speech to the House of Commons since taking office, Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledged to increase public control over essential services while giving regions greater devolved powers. Khadija Khan, Political Commentator Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced a U-turn on the government’s early-release  scheme, saying he understood “how strongly people feel about this”. The decision comes  after weeks of criticism of a scheme which would have allowed some offenders convicted of  manslaughter to be released early, alongside other serious offenders already excluded from  the scheme, including those convicted of murder, rape and serious child sexual offences.  Those released would serve the remainder of their sentence in the community on licence,  under conditions set by probation, with the possibility of being recalled to prison if those  conditions were breached.
